Where to Stay in Favignana: Choose the Right Island Base

Stay in Favignana Town for easy arrivals and dinners on foot. Choose Lido Burrone for sand close to your room, the eastern quarries for a distinctive hotel setting, or Marasolo and the west for garden stays and self-catering.

Choose your part of the island

The ferry arrives beside town. Lido Burrone lies on the south coast; Cala Rossa, Bue Marino and Cala Azzurra are three separate places farther east. Beyond the Santa Caterina ridge, the western countryside spreads towards Punta Sottile.

Accommodation bases compares the four bases. Whole island adds Punta Sottile and the full coast. Move the map with two fingers.

1. Favignana Town and the port: easy arrivals and evenings out

Choose town for a short first visit, regular dinners out or trips to the other Egadi Islands. Around Piazza Madrice, you can leave dinner plans open and walk back afterwards. Staying near the harbour also removes a transfer from each excursion day.

At Tempo di Mare, the shared seaside courtyard and the view from your bedroom are separate considerations: Comfort rooms have an internal or town outlook. Choose a category explicitly described as sea-view if that matters. For its requested port transfer, contact reception at least 24 hours ahead; ask separately about the Lido Burrone shuttle and its terms.

Cala La Luna Resort is listed on Booking as Essence Favignana - Cala la Luna Resort. Check the apartment category’s facilities and ask whether half board is available for your dates. The resort says its port transfers have not been bookable since 1 October 2026; confirm arrival arrangements for your stay.

For more space beside the harbour, I Pretti Resort has suites around a garden. Entrances vary between the garden court and loggia. Reception is listed as 08:00–21:00, so arrange a later arrival in advance.

For cooking near town, Residence Favonio has apartments with kitchenettes. Check whether your unit is in the main residence or a Dependance on Via Michele Amari, and confirm where to collect the keys.

More small stays and a historic town hotel

Mazzini Accommodation is an eight-room central stay, with breakfast and optional board arrangements.

meridiano12 is another small town option with a garden and shared terrace; check whether breakfast is included in your rate.

Aegusa Hotel has a historic main building on Via Garibaldi. Rooms also occupy other buildings, including Ex Camparia, so check the assigned address and reception point.

La Casa dell’Arancio offers a courtyard-and-terrace B&B setting for travellers who prefer a small property in the centre.

For a quieter town stay, ask where the bedroom faces and whether it overlooks a restaurant lane.

2. Lido Burrone and the south coast: sand or resort facilities

For repeated trips between your room and a sandy beach, look close to Lido Burrone itself. Its beach clubs and straightforward beach access make it a practical starting point with children. Other southern addresses can have a completely different shore, so “south coast” is too broad a promise on its own.

At Stabilimento Lido Burrone, check the chosen cabin’s terrace and family-room layout. Confirm whether your rate includes loungers, umbrellas, meals or a port transfer before adding these services.

At Mangia’s Favignana Resort, the waterfront has rock and wooden platforms; a day on Lido Burrone’s sand is a separate outing. Choose a named sea-view category if you want that outlook from your room, and check the seasonal activity programme if children’s entertainment is part of the appeal.

The resort’s listing puts it approximately 5 kilometres from the ferry harbour. Arrange the arrival with luggage and think through any evenings you want to spend in town. A beachfront room at Burrone and a resort stay at Punta Fanfalo solve different problems, even though both sit in this southern group.

3. Cala Rossa, Bue Marino and the eastern quarries

Choose the east for the landscape of cut stone and coves, with a pool or garden to return to between outings. Cala Rossa and Bue Marino have rocky approaches and water entries. Cala Azzurra is a separate sandy bay to the south-east, so the name of the nearest cove matters when comparing accommodation.

Cave Bianche Hotel lists Cala Azzurra at about 800 metres away, Cala Rossa at about 2 kilometres and town at about 3 kilometres. These are separate outings from its inland location.

Its complimentary port shuttle is for arrival and departure, with at least 24 hours’ notice. Other journeys into town need their own arrangement. If you plan to eat out every evening, settle that part of the stay before booking.

With a pushchair or limited mobility, assess the particular cove’s access before choosing a beach. Wind direction alone cannot guarantee calm water: take the day’s sea conditions into account before heading out.

4. Marasolo, countryside and west: choose the distance from town

This group covers two different kinds of stay. Marasolo is on the coast near town’s south-western edge; the countryside farther west leads towards Punta Sottile and Cala del Pozzo. Compare the individual address before deciding how often you want to shop, go to a beach or eat in the centre.

At Miramare Residence, choose a studio, apartment or cottage with a kitchenette if you plan to cook. The property also sells rooms without one. Its panoramic terrace above Marasolo is shared; check the booked unit separately if you want a sea view.

Arrange Masseria Il Passo’s port journey before arriving. A bike, e-bike, scooter or booked transfer can suit different visitors; the right choice depends on your luggage, riding confidence and plans for dinner.

Punta Sottile and Cala del Pozzo are useful western sunset destinations. If you will return after dark, plan that journey as well as the outward trip. Do not base the whole stay on a daytime cycling estimate or assume a bus will still be running when dinner ends.

Getting here and reaching your accommodation

Build the journey in three parts: reaching the mainland quay, making the sea crossing, then getting to the property. A flight arrival time is the beginning of that chain.

Choose the mainland port

From Trapani-Birgi Airport, check the AST bus connection to Trapani on the airport’s transport page. Confirm the stop for the direction you are travelling and the departure time before choosing a boat.

From Palermo city or Palermo Airport, use the appropriate Segesta service to Trapani. These are different journeys: the city departure listings checked for November 2026 show a journey of about two hours. Allow additional time to reach the correct berth and board the boat.

From Marsala, Liberty Lines also serves Favignana. This can be useful when you are already in that part of western Sicily; compare its sailings with the Trapani option for your actual date.

If arriving by train, search a current Trenitalia journey to Trapani and allow for the station-to-quay leg. Services and engineering changes should be checked for the day you travel.

Hydrofoil or conventional ferry

Liberty Lines runs passenger hydrofoils from Trapani and Marsala, with onward connections between Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo. Siremar/Caronte & Tourist also runs conventional ferries from Trapani; the operator gives about one hour for that sea crossing. Vehicles can travel on the conventional ferry when the applicable island rules allow them.

In Trapani, confirm the embarkation quay on your ticket: the conventional ferry need not leave beside the hydrofoil-side bus stop. On Favignana, the operators identify Molo San Leonardo, beside town.

Liberty Lines includes one hand bag up to 10 kg and 60 × 40 × 20 cm; extra bags need a baggage ticket. Siremar lists personal luggage as free, without a weight limit.

Liberty Lines asks ticketed domestic passengers to be at boarding at least 15 minutes before departure, with valid ID. Leave a larger margin for a connection from an airport or coach.

From the port to your base

For a central town stay, check the walking route to the exact address. For the beach, quarries or countryside, arrange luggage transport before arrival; any property transfer has its own booking conditions. Collecting a rental bike can wait until your bags are at the accommodation.

Buses are another option. Tarantola & Cuffaro’s published November 2026–April 2027 on-board fares are €3 for a single trip and €9 for a day ticket. That winter timetable has two morning departures on each line, Monday–Saturday, excluding public holidays; stops include Lido Burrone, Punta Fanfalo and Residence Miramare. Match the seasonal timetable to your plans, including the return journey.

A regular bike can work for the trips you are comfortable riding; an e-bike or scooter may suit longer outings. The Santa Caterina ridge separates the island’s eastern and western sides. Check the actual route and arrange lights if you will ride after dark.

Landing contribution and bringing a vehicle

Favignana uses a landing contribution instead of a nightly tourist tax. The municipal regulation sets an ordinary rate of €2.50 per passenger, with an annually determined June–September rate of up to €5. It is collected with the boat ticket; do not add it again to a fare that already includes it. Landings between the Egadi islands are excluded.

Exempt groups include residents and children up to age 12, as well as people working on the islands and commuting students. Qualifying IMU property-tax payers who are up to date with payment, together with their households, can also be exempt. Ask the carrier which documents or declaration are required before paying.

Vehicle restrictions are set for a particular season. The 2026 restriction ran from 15 June to 30 September and has ended. A stay of at least six days, with the required evidence, was one exemption among several. Before booking a vehicle crossing for a future summer, check the new decree and its proof requirements with the carrier.

When to stay

For a summer beach holiday, reserve the accommodation and sea crossing together, especially if you need a particular family room or want to stay close to Burrone’s sand. Compare your own dates rather than relying on an island-wide nightly price band.

In spring and autumn, check the property’s opening dates, meal service and pool arrangements before choosing a resort over town. Cala La Luna’s final checkout for the 2026 season was 18 October; confirm its dates for your stay.

For a winter visit, town is the practical first place to look for a short stay. Hydrofoils and island buses continue on seasonal timetables, while individual accommodation and restaurant openings need checking. Choose the visit for the island and its town rather than building it around a summer resort programme.

Questions before you book

Is it worth staying overnight?Yes, if you want dinner in town and time to visit the coves at your own pace. Staying over lets you start early, return to your room during the day and plan the evening without a return-sailing deadline.
Where should we stay with young children?Start with accommodation genuinely close to Lido Burrone if easy beach access is the priority. Choose Cala La Luna near town if a pool and family apartment matter more. Check the child’s sleeping arrangements, meal plan and the route to the beach; rocky Punta Fanfalo and the eastern coves have different access from Burrone.
Can we stay without hiring a bike?Yes. Town makes daily meals and ferry departures simpler, and buses or booked transfers can cover some outings. A beachfront stay can also work when you are happy spending much of the day there. Before choosing somewhere rural, confirm both the outward journey and how you will get back.
Can Favignana be a base for Levanzo and Marettimo?Yes: check Liberty Lines’ outward and return sailings for each island before setting the day’s plan. A town address keeps the port convenient. The municipal landing contribution does not apply to landings between these Egadi islands.
